Following the feeding of the five thousand and witnessing Jesus walking on water, the disciples invite Jesus into their boat and to have Jesus continue to lead them. By abiding with the Lord, they get a new, expanded, and deepened understanding of Jesus. This is the main purpose of the church. Putting Christ at the center is what the church is called to do, unlike other human institutions. It’s about being with Jesus, listening to him, learning from him, and worshiping Jesus as Lord, as God with us, the Great I AM.
