Pastor's sermon is based upon our gospel lesson. This past Thursday, we celebrated our nation’s 248th birthday, we give thanks for the many blessings God has given us, including our religious freedom. We also give thanks for the sacrifice of the many men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. It’s ironic then, as we celebrate Independence Day, to be assigned a Gospel text where the disciples are challenged with an assignment to be fully dependent on God’s provision. It had to be a tough challenge…to depend on the kindness and hospitality of strangers, and fully rely on God by relying on others to accept or reject you.
