Mark 4:35-41
Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

Pastor's sermon is based on the Gospel lesson. The disciples are understandably afraid because of the storm. Fear overtakes them. As a result, they don't come to Jesus and say, "Teacher, we need your help." Instead, assuming the worst, they say: "Teacher, don't you care that we are dying?" This isn't a trusting or faithful request. It's a fear-induced accusation. Jesus responds with grace. Despite the disciples’ testy interaction with Jesus, He still calms the sea. He does care for them. He does look out for them. You don't have to have perfect faith in order for God to respond. Thanks be to God! Amen.
