Pastor's sermon is based upon the gospel lesson from Luke 2:15-21. Jesus is named and circumcised eight (8) days after he was born. Little did Mary and Joseph know how this name was going to play itself out during the life of Jesus. Who could have envisioned the humiliating rejection from the Lord’s own people, leading to His crucifixion and death? Through His sacrifice for our sake, God in Jesus would cancel our failure and guilt resulting from our human sinfulness. And, three days later, with the resurrection of Jesus, He would open up our dead-end streets and create a highway to lead us to eternal life. It’s amazing to consider that on the same day Jesus was given His Holy name, God already had this destiny in mind. This has very personal application in our own lives and our own future as God’s beloved children.
