Pastor's sermon is based upon the gospel reading. The image of the vine and branches is powerful. The branches can only exist if they are connected through the vine. And when Jesus says, “I AM the vine and y’all are the branches,” it’s the last night before his arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection. Today, we bring the words of Jesus at the Last Supper forward into the Easter season. The appearances of the Risen Jesus to the disciples are all more incredible when we realize that all of the promises made by Jesus in Chapters 13 through 17 of John’s Gospel are fulfilled with abundance! Jesus makes it clear: He is the true vine, God the Father is the vine grower, and we, his disciples, filled with the Holy Spirit are the branches. Alleluia!
