Pastor's sermon is based on the second scripture lesson from 1 John 3:1-3. God gives each of His beloved children a calling in life. We name this calling our “vocation.” We are called to love and serve God by loving and serving our neighbors. And don’t you just love the following line by Luther? “God doesn’t need our good works, but our neighbors do.” Our vocational call to serve God in our everyday lives is embedded in our baptism, where we are joined to the death and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
