John 20:19-31
Second Sunday of Easter

Pastor's sermon is based on the gospel reading from John 20:19-31. The doors were locked. Three years ago, we were in the first month of the pandemic. Our churches were empty and the doors were locked for fear of the coronavirus. For many of us, the first two years or so of the pandemic will forever be etched in our memories. Today’s Gospel is a story about a group of people who were also in lockdown: the disciples of Jesus Christ. The doors into the room where they huddled were not only shut, but also locked. They were filled with fear. That’s some church we’ve got! And yet, it was to these disappointing followers of Jesus that the Risen Christ went to on the very first day of his resurrected life. He wasn’t stopped by their locked doors. Thanks be to God!
