Luke 21:5-19
Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost

The sermon by Pastor is based on the gospel lesson from Luke 21:5-19.  By the time Luke wrote his Gospel, it was probably in the mid-eighties AD. The temple had already been destroyed. Luke's listeners knew that Jesus the Son of God was also a great prophet who had foretold the destruction of the Temple. Nothing is permanent, nothing is lasting, nothing… except God. As we hear of this today, during our worship service, we thank God for the service of our veterans, who have helped to preserve our freedom to gather to worship the God who loves us. How appropriate it also is, to give our children and youth the opportunity to offer their young voices to lead our worship with prayer and Holy Scripture readings.
