Mark 9:38-50
Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost

The sermon by Pastor is based upon Mark 9:38-50. Jesus Christ invites us to a discipleship that’s inclusive, attends to the vulnerable, and is self-aware. This discipleship will bring sacrifice with it; so, we don’t come away without being transformed. And here’s the good news: this kind of discipleship IS possible, even desirable. Because Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is the one who makes it possible. Jesus himself carries out an inclusive ministry, attentive to the vulnerable, free of activities that would cause him to stumble, embodying sacrifice throughout his ministry, and after his death on the cross, finally rising to new life in God. Saint Augustine had it right: "Our hearts are restless 'til they rest in thee." Amen!
