Mark 9:30-37
Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

The sermon by Pastor  is based upon the gospel lesson from Mark and the second reading from James. Pastor wrestles with the notion of God having a detailed plan for each of our lives. Jesus promises to be present with us at all times. God is not known for being sternly and irrevocably committed to a detailed plan, because our God is a living God who is fully active, seeking love. And "God's desire" seems so much more appropriate to speak of God, and God's great love for the world, than "God's plan."
