Pastor's sermon is based on John 21:1-19. Jesus responds to Peter’s confessions by giving him good, meaningful work to do: “Feed my sheep. Be a leader. Look out for these others. Devote yourself to this community.” Peter is reinstated into the community of the faithful and given a sense of belonging and a sense of purpose. Through the Holy Waters of Baptism, we belong to Christ and also are invited to be a part of a group where we belong. The word “vocation” means a calling from God. It holds the promise of giving us a purpose and an invitation from God to take care of God’s people and God’s world.
